Before entering behaviours and/ or skills (BNS) records, the BNS system must be entered first. And entering the records can be done in two ways, manually and bulk upload. To do these, take the following steps:
To manually record BNS
1. Go to ‘Academic’.
2. Click on ‘Behaviours and skills’.
3. Select ‘Record BNS’.
4. Select school level (Nursery, Primary etc.).
5. Select class.
6. Click load. All names of the students in the selected class come up.
7. Rate each student’s ‘behaviours and skills’ by selecting the corresponding circles with numbers from 1-5 (where 1 is the lowest and 5 is the highest).
8. Check all ‘TA’ and ‘AA’ checkbox.
9. Click on ‘save’.
To bulk upload record for BNS
1. Repeat step 1 to step 5 of To manually record BNS
2. Click on ‘Create Template’. A Microsoft Excel file, with the name ‘bns-template.xlsx pops up. Click to download.
3. Open the file with Microsoft Excel software. From the opened file in Excel, the names of all students in the class are shown with columns for the different BNS category created (see documentation on how to create Behaviours and Skills System). Switch between the two Excel worksheet to see that for skills and behaviours. Fill all columns with the corresponding score from 1-5 (where 1 is the lowest and 5 is the highest). Enter all ratings for the students in all categories and save the file somewhere when done.
4. Come back to the portal and follow the above steps 1-5 of To manually record BNS, and click ‘upload’.
5. Click on the empty environment shown and Nersapp prompts you to attach a file, opening the storage of your system.
6. Select the Excel file just worked on and the file is uploaded automatically. If the upload is successful, it indicates it by giving feedback (upload successful) which is seen at the top right corner in a green box. If the upload is not successful, feedback (upload error or something similar) is also seen at the top right corner in a red box. If not successful, click on the ‘remove file’ option that appears below the uploaded file to remove it from the ‘upload’ environment and attach the file again to have a successful upload.
7. Click on ‘process all’.
Please note: If there is no mismatching with the BNS rating, all rating for the selected class in step 8 is processed. If there is a mismatch with scores or any other issue (for example, a score that is above the maximum of a column is entered), Nersapp tells you where the error is and prompts you to fix it before the file can be processed. If that is the case, after fixing the issue, the previously uploaded file that is still on the ‘upload’ environment (step 10) has to be ‘removed’, this can be done by either clicking on ‘remove file’ below the uploaded file or by clicking on ‘Reset’ below the upload environment. Then select the right file and click ‘process all’.
8. Check all ‘TA’ and ‘AA’ columns for all students.
9. Click ‘Save’
