How to Add / Update CAE System

CAE refers to Continuous Assessment and Examination, meaning the number of CAT (Continuous Assessment Test), TEST, HOMEWORK, etc. that a school rates the students with and that would be added to the examination score to form a total of 100. Beautifully, Nersapp makes it easy for the grades to be calculated automatically when entering the grades based on how the CAE is created. Later documentation will explain how grades can be entered into the portal.

To create a CAE System, follow the steps bellow

1.   Go to ‘Academic

2.   Click on ‘Grades

3.   Under ‘CAE System’, select ‘Add CAE’

4.   Create ‘CAE system name’ and proceed

5.   Select the number of divisions under ‘CAE division

6.   Give each division a ‘CA name’ e.g. Test 1, Test 2, Homework, Exam, etc.

7.   Under ‘CA Formula’ type in the corresponding score for the division

8.   Select which row is the ‘total score’

Note: The ‘total score’ must equal 100. Now to the total of the CAT, you can use a formula to enable Nersapp to determine that. To do this, let’s take the ‘CA name’ to be ‘CAT TOTAL’ and then under ‘CA Formula’ create a formula like CAT 1 + CAT 2 + CAT 3 (three CATs are offered in that class). Nersapp automatically adds up the scores for the three CATs and gives the total under ‘CA score’. The same formula can be used to derive the total score to equal 100. If the CAT score is 40, then the examination score should be 60. So under the total score, you can create a formula to add both CAT total and Examination score. For example, let’s take the ‘CA name’ for examination to be “Exams” and the ‘CA name’ for the ‘Total score’ (CAT+ Examination) to be “Total”. To get the total score, under ‘CA formula’ for “Exams”, type CAT Total + Exams and automatically, Nersapp adds both and sum it up to 100. Click on the circular box to indicate that to be the total score Nersapp uses.

To make changes to an already created ‘CAE system’:

1.   Select the pencil icon next to the CA system name

2.   Click proceed

3.   Make changes and click on the ‘update CAE system’ to effect changes.
