How to ‘Generate Pins’

The usage of pins helps to protect unauthorized access to the report of the students. In a situation where restrictions need to be placed on a student from accessing his/ her report for a given term, activating the use of pin becomes necessary. Most times, this could be a result of those that still need to clear some outstanding debts before they can be granted access. So when the use of pin is in play, while other modules can be accessed by the user, he/ she would not be able to view results, not until he purchases the scratch card that reveals the pin. And purchasing the scratch card means clearing all outstanding debts as deemed fit by the school. To generate and activate pin, take the following steps:

1.  Go to ‘Report’

2.  Click on ‘Academic’

3.  Click on ‘Generate Report Pins’

4.  Select a ‘Term’ to generate pin for

Note: pins generated are unique to a particular term, meaning a pin generated for a particular term cannot be used in another term.

5.  Select ‘status’, either active or inactive

Note: we have inactive (students no longer in the system, for example, graduated students) as an option here for situations where students, though no more in the school, but may need to access a result of a particular term can get a scratch card from the school and login using their details used when still in the school alongside the pin from the scratch card.

6.  Select ‘pin type’ (a combination of pin, either letters, numbers only or alpha-      numeric)

7.  Select ‘pin size’ (the length of pin)

8.  Click ‘create’

9.  Click ‘load’ to view pins generated 

To activate generated pins

10. Click on ‘Activate pins’ (and anyone who wants to check reports of a student, be it the student or the parent/ guardian of the student, would be required to insert a pin to access the result).

11. Click on ‘print pins’ if necessary.
